Evaluations are done once a season to determine the proper placement of players onto teams for the subsequent season who will be playing in the Nashoba Valley Youth Soccer League (NVYSL) at the U10, U12 and U14 age levels. Therefore, it is imperative that all players attend the formal tryout.

Tryouts for the Spring season are typically held in early November.

Tryouts for the fall season typically take place in June.

All tryouts are at TRW field
Please arrive 15 minutes early so that we can check your child in and assign them a pinnie #.

They should wear cleats and shinguards and bring a water bottle.
Tryouts typically consist of a series of drills followed by several scrimmages.
ALL players are required to attend evaluations/tryouts: regardless of whether they've played on an Outlaws team before or not.

All players must register online and payment must be made or the player will not be allowed to participate. If there is financial hardship, please have the parents contact a board member or coach.

Registration must be submitted prior to the start of the season. player placement may be affected if form is not received by the deadline.

Evaluations and Team Placements

The purpose of the evaluation process that we conduct as part of the Outlaws is to determine the relative skill, aggressiveness, awareness, field sense, athleticism and team vs. individual orientation of all of the players that will be playing in the U10, U12 and U14 age groups.  We use the information gathered from these evaluations to properly place players onto teams at the appropriate level of play based on their current stage of development.
We as a board try very hard to place players correctly, but without data, it is hard to make relative comparisons, which can invariably lead to incorrect placements, disgruntled parents and disappointed kids.  So, it is important to bring your children to evaluations so that they can be properly evaluated against the other players in their age level/gender.

Considerable effort is made to evaluate every player, by multiple coaches- so that we can get a thourough and un-biased assesment.

What to Wear

For the evaluation sessions, please have all players wear full soccer gear which includes cleats, soccer shorts, a t-shirt and shin guards.  They do not have to wear their Outlaws uniform, but they should wear equivalent apparel.  They should also bring the proper size ball with them (size 4 for U10 and U12 and size 5 for U14 and above) and plenty of water.  Also, please encourage your children to do their best, but do not put too much pressure on them.  For many, this will be the first time that they have gone through a process like this and it can be a little intimidating.  Players play their best when they are focused, but relaxed, so putting too much pressure on your sons or daughters before the evaluations is not helpful.  You should be encouraging them to have fun and do their best.

If you have any questions about the evaluation or team placement process, please reach out to the Oakmont Outlaws board.  Thank you.
